Re: Let's share our blunders!
Vivo en California (I live in California). I hope I can get a work permit. I go to this one fish store all the time, and I know more about the fish than the employees. I'm thinking of getting a job there, but I can't drive (I'm 15) yet, so it's a tough call. I'm trying to convince my parents to let me get a 240G if I can get a job (preferrably at a LFS). I don't want to use my "knowledge" of fish for evil.

sweet groovit, i hope it works out for ya! more knowledgable people need to be in those positions... but more importantly if or more like when you get the job you can see how the business side is run then go open your own store that's way more kick buttocks and destroy your competition!

Re: Let's share our blunders!
Ok, but this one is more sad than funny. I used to have a humu trigger and I added a cleaner wrasse that would actually clean and eat frozen foods. One day I came home to find the humu had eaten the wrasse's stomach! Funny in the ironic way that the trigger always seemed to think it needed more food. But sad nonetheless.

I had a tiretrack eel and 3 giant danios jump the tank on me back in the 55. I loved that eel.
And sorry for mistaking you for a he. I made the same mistake with PufferPunk, and I thought I was gonna get booted from the forum for a second. Good thing most people on this forum have a great sense of humor.

Re: Let's share our blunders!
My exroommate Tim had a huge oscar we called fatty. He (didn't know the sex of the fish really) was a cool oscar he always seemed to be angry! One day we had a BBQ with people over and some beers. In the middle of the night after the festivities Tim woke up hearing a weird slapping like sound. He got out of bed got some water looked around the living room. Didn't see anything out of place and went back to bed.
In the morning he woke up and Fatty was missing from his tank, apparently the slapping sound was Fatty freaking out as he lay on the hardwood floor in the middle of the night. Figuring that he was dead Tim picks up fatty to throw out in the yard for the ferral cats (way too big to flush!). As Tim is nearing the sliding glass door Fatty awakes and starts squrming in Tim's hand. He runs back to Fatty's tank and drops him in! Fatty immediatly sinks to the bottom gulping water like there's no tomorrow! Amazingly enough he had some funk on his eyes that cleared up after a few days and all was fine. He was back to his normal pissed off self! He lived for another year, then seemed to develop an internal blockage and died.

Re: Let's share our blunders!
thats my plan with the ceylon and thornback cowfish im getting. two big tanks and a tank with my valentini. Maybe i can keep the cowfish and the valentini togethor since there are no documented leakings of toxin into the tank(or at least it rarely happens). My LFS said i had to be 18 to. Imagine that, me a 13 year old working at a LFSgroovitudedude wrote:Hey! I'm gonna use that excuse to get myself a 240!!!!
Actually, I'm gonna get myself a job, hopefully at a LFS.
One time when i got my 10 gallon tank. I was filling it up with a giant bucket and i totally missed the tank and got water over everything

Yeah, it's kinda weird though. Most of the people in charge are females, and I keep on getting them mixed up with males. Anyway, even I think that 13 is too young to work at a LFS.

Re: Let's share our blunders!
i think age is just a legal thing... it all depends on maturity level and responsibility level... i know 12 year olds that could do better in the work place than some 40 year olds. But of course those are the rare situations, and there's still the law to deal with... not much you can do with that.
