Meet my new baby porky

Post by Puffalicious »

Hey guys, this is the 2nd day I've had him. Enjoy the pics and tell me if you see anything wrong with him. :D:D
He is 4" big already and is already the LEADER of the tank. The Blue Throat Trigger and LionFish is scared of him, ahhaha.

On this pic, do you see the different color on his top fin? Is that normal? It's kind of an orange color.

Also, this is the 2nd day and he has not eaten yet. Any recommendations? I soaked foods in garlic and he still would not respond to it. He ignores it like he doesn't see it.

He is a very nice specimen.
What kind of foods have you been trying to feed him?

Scallops, Krill, Mysis, Formula 1. I might go buy some ghost shrimps if he doesn't eat by the end of today.

I have to feed mine ghost shrimp and she goes nuts. She ignores everything else that I try to feed even after soaking in garlic. She is so cute chasing the shrimp around. :D I'm still trying to get her to eat other things but until she starts ghost shrimp it is. I even tried to tie a piece of mussle on a string and pulled it through the tank. It got her intrest but not for long. Good luck to you and if you get him to eat anything please let me know what and how. :?

Beautiful fish. You might have luck trying some small snails, hermit crabs or crayfish... They crayfish especially will give it something to chase. My porc also loved earth worms.

I hope you are gut-loading those ghost shrimp. Otherwise, you're basicly feeding him 98% water.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I keep the ghost shrimp in a 10 gallon aquarium and feed the twice a day. Then I feed the shrimp to the puffer. I'm still
trying to get her to eat mealworms, mussels, clams or brime shrimp and she just won't go for it. I tricked her once but
she still refuses everything. I don't want to starve her but I have not given up on the other things. Any suggestions on what else to try? I thought about getting some shrimp from the freezer department but I'm not sure that would be any better than ghost shrimp.

BTW: I tried snails and she just ignored them too.

Very cute puffer! Reminds me of Shelby, it looks like it might have IP. Are you treating him for that?

Quick updates:

3rd day I've had him and I've tried these foods and he would not go for it:
Scallops, Krill, Mysis, Formula 1, ghost shrimps, brine shrimp, and LIVE Rosy Reds!!! All foods are absorbed in garlic, except for the rosies.....

Still doesn't want anything that's given to her. I think I may need some advice or help from you pros. I've never had a fish that doesn't eat so please help. How long do I have before I start worrying?

Try some live snails. Freshwater snails are fine, they should be about the size of the puffers eye. Muscles are also a possibility (you'll probably have to crack it open first).

Perhaps your little baby needs time to adjust. Have you tried using the tricks in the library "problems feeding your puffer"? If not here is a link: http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/lib ... ur-puffer/

If that does not work I would post in the hospital section ASAP. I hope your baby feels better soon!
