Well, as long as your tank isn't cycled anyway, you'll be doing 50% daily water changes for a while, so you can get the SG down to the proper measurement of 1.005 in no time. Don't lower the SG more than .002/day.

Sounds like you're in a bit over your head w/this puffer.
You will have to do all those water changes, cause your tank isn't cycled & the puffer will be poisoned by it's own waste.

The LFS in Minneapolis keeps there f-8 in full marine too, I mentioned to the owner that they were best kept in brackish and he said " on all my diving trips I have seen them in full salt to fresh so they are fine " some of them have been there for 6 weeks and seem fine @ right now but you can tell their color is kinda dull.

Yes, you need to lower the salinity to 1.005 (slowly), which is the best for these puffers. Your LFS is keeping them in way too much salt.

oh and also, when i went to one of the petstores, i asked for biospira and they had it in the freezer!, i looked on the back of the package and it said do not freeze or expose to heat, haha and they were selling it for 20 dollars! the one that'll cover a 30 gallon tank..... isnt that stuff like 8 bux?
