Baby Scallops

Post by Agnate »

Do puffers like raw baby scallops? I would assume they do. I picked up a little bag to try them out, and I was just wondering if anyone has tried them or stopped using them for some reason.

Thanks!

I have not tried scallops yet. Lol, I have about 20.00 worth of seafood in the freezer that still needs to be used.

If I remember right it's listed in the food section for puffers. I would have to look again.

Here's the list:

Frozen:
Mussel, Cockle, Krill, Prawn, King Prawn, Crabs and crabs legs, Bloodworm, Black worms, Siversides

Live: Snails, Crabs, Crayfish, Shrimp, Earthworms, Crickets (occasionally), Meal worms (occasionally), Bloodworm, Blackworms

Freeze-dried:
Krill, Plankton

I really don't see why you can't try it except maybe for the vitamin content. I don't that much about scallops. I did find some fresh mussles and clams at the local grocery store. My puffers love them. But I have to feed them a half. There is a lot of meat in one.

Just seen on another article that you can feed porc's scallops so I guess it's good for all puffers.

Yay! I hope they like them. The only thing with scallops is that they aren't crunchy at all and are probably kinda fatty. Oh well, it'll be a once-every-week-or-two treat for them. :)

I've been trying to find some frozen baby shrimp, but the only ones I've seen are salad shrimp, and they don't have any legs or shell on them (which is no good). Guess I'll just have to keep looking! :)

You should just eat the scallops yourself, wrap them in bacon, so good.

I've also been trying to find baby shrimp with no luck. Seafood really isn't very popular where I am (AKA no where near any oceans!)

Yeah, same here. I'm dead-smack in the middle of North America (well, kinda), so I don't get to see a lot of seafood here. I'm going to look for a seafood market or something, because I might be able to pick up some really random stuff here.

*Crosses his fingers* Here's hopin'!

It's a bit late, and your question seems to be answered, but we feed our Ceylons scallops once in a while. :)
