my new puffer help id

we have a 200g tank with 1 marron clown,1 normal nemo!,one black and white clown,1 sailfin,1lawnmower blenny, 1 goby,few crabs suppose they wont last long now! we not 100% sure the type of puffer thats where you guys come in! and looking for care tips!

Hi there, welcome to the forum. I'm not very good on Marine puffers I'm afraid but I'm getting better. I think that that is an Aarothron species, have a look in the pufferpedia for more info. Most of these giys get pretty big and can have a liking for coral too so beware. Hopefully some more marine literate people will be along soon, Corvus is normally the man for the job

EDIT: as for ID, leeme scan the pufferpedia really quick, and I'll try to give you a better answer

So here are my results. Looks possibly like a BLue-Spot puffer:

The markings look very simmilar. Requires 300 gallons, as it says it gets a whopping 48 inches!

(I think it would need WAY more than that personally if all thats true =/ )

If it has the small tell tale blueish spots (can be in circles aroud the eyes) CtHM is right. Reaches 2.5 ft.

Yunachin is also right: A. immaculatus can be blotchy, especially when stressed, but does not exhibit the small blueish spots. This one only reaches one foot, but mostly stays smaller.

Larger pic of the puffer would be better for a definite ID.

Arothron spp. can indeed be killers, but most appear to be rather timid. It also depends on the species, A. immaculatus is more peaceful than A. hispidus. A. reticularis can also be mean etc., I don't have long term experience with the blue spotted one.

I would, however not leave the smaller clowns with the maroon.

The way the puffer is laying on the rock looks so cool. Sounds like you are going to have one Big puffer!

right its defo not got any blue on him at all trying to get closer pic but no luck yet! he has however got black or dark blue rim around his tail x

If it has no small blue or white spots Yunachin is probably right!

A. immaculatus do have a dark rim around the tail, but so may others.

Let's also see if this puffer stays blotchy all the time, this looks like stress or sleeping coloration.

I agree totally with Corvus about that Maroon clown, they are mean & will kill your smaller fish & even attack your puffer. I had one in with 2 puffers & he nipped both their tails down to a nub.
