For a further explaination: keeping fish in waters unsutable for them, like a FW fish in BW or BW in FW, will stress them, compromising their immune system causing disease & early death.

Just because a fish can be kept or seems to do okay in a tank that is not designed for it doestn mean it should be kept in it. :D

Yea, really, you have to ask yourself whats healthiest for the fish, not what it can survive, IMO. Of course, research is needed to determine what is and isn't healthy for a fish - example, F8's, which are FW in the wild, but really only seem to live full lives in at least slightly brackish waters in captivity.
