New 240L tank for ceylon!

Post by t1gerbee »

Got a great dela on a new tank for my ceylon puff...

that's a 55 (ish) UK Gallon tank.

So, that's a very big tank for one fish...

what else can i put in there? have black gravel so bumble bee gobies are pointless... the Sg is 1.010.. any higher and he gets grumpy....

any ideas lovely people?

Monos, scats, or other brackish fishes. How aggressive is he?

Congrats! I think I'd avoid fish untill he goes to a higher sg, unless he won't let you at all, than maybe another BW goby?

Monos and Scats makes for poor tankmates when it comes to Puffers.
Will more than probably end in tears it will...

thought monos and scats got really big... or am i mis-remembering...

don't know how aggressive he is... he was only with other fish (freshwater oscar tank!!!) for one day, when i first got him. He didn't attack anything, but then he was sat at the bottom and very black.. so guessing he wasn't feeling up to fighting...

marine is sooo much hassle, and the outlay is huge, would rather keep him mid BW if possible... can use my own tap water then, rather than lugging 5G RO around.. or buying my own unit... unless he starts complaining, which he may as he grows...

mmmmm... ?

But you already have marine tanks running?
Honestly keeping marine will end up being much easier than BW, and I don't use RO water for my marine tanks. (Thats changing soon though since theres a lot more chlorine and stuff in our water now and it's rather disgusting but I used to have very good water)

i have one marine tank running... and it cost me a fortune in live rock and protein skimmers... and i have to really concentrate and work hard at water changes...

i use RO and mix my own salt water... i then use mature water from my main tank to wc my quarentine tank and top up the marine tank with new......

it's scary still...

thought of having two marine tanks is.. just too much at the moment.

I like brackish, its easy... maybe that doesn't make sense.

maybe i just have marine fear still...

No need to make hurried choices.. guess we'll just see..

could take ceylon to marine and get a voltan.... now that would be fun...!

After the initial investment marine is not that bad at all. But LR is pricey. Where do you get it? Your LFS or a local reef club?
Either way it's best to wait the for a tankmate.

Let your ceylon get settled before buying more fish.
