Help with raising salt

Is there a sticky anywhere which gives advice on how much and how often to raise salinity?
My GSP is about 2.5 inches and I've got him up to 1.008 so far.
Any input would be very welcome

The quickest amount to raise salinity is by 0.002 per week. Though, I'd only advise a raise of 0.001, just to be safe. The prevents the beneficial bacteria from dying off, which is last thing you want.

on the subject, how do I keep the salinity the same when I do water changes?

Invest in a Hydrometer. The one made by Instant Ocean is a good one. Just make sure it reads from 1.000 upwards. If you are using a Python (or similar device), then you might run into problems in that you can't add the salt to the water before it goes into the tank.

so add the salt first and get it the same as the tank? I already have the instant ocean hydrometer (wanted everything perfect for my GSPs) is it meant to be left in the tank or should I only use it to check the salinity every now and then?

Only check it every now and then and rinse it in FW before and after it.
I only use it the day of water changes and the day after.
