Puffers tend to be seasonal. you're either gonna luck out with someone giving one up or you will have to wait til they come into season for catching.

Hi,

I saw Nile Puffers for sale at Swallow Aquatics in East Harling (Norfolk). I do not know if they'd ship them and it is a heck of a journey. Maybe check out http://www.swallowaquatics.co.uk/

Thanks,

Ed

First, instead of the little bag they give you, ask if they'll give you (or you can buy) an extra amount of the tank water so that you can use a bucket. Estimate perhaps 1 US gallon of water per inch of fish, so that would be the size of bucket you would get. Then you could either wrap an electric blanket around the bucket or use a small tank heater. Just make sure whatever car adapter you choose actually works with the heater or blanket. I made the mistake of not checking, then I wasn't able to use my electric blanket for a 3 day trip for 5 puffers and 1 goby during the winter. I had to keep the car very hot to compensate. Still, the fish were cold and grumpy at the end of the trip, but survived and are completely healthy. 10 hours should be completely fine if you can keep the water at a decent temperature. Also, you can put a regular blanket under the bucket to insulate it from the bottom of the car which may get cold.

Oh, and don't forget some holes in the lid of the bucket or use an airstone or something.

All Fahakas are wild caught and they've made the journey here under similar circumstances...

http://www.tropicalfishfinder.co.uk for finding the fish, there are onlien services from a number of shops on there.
