Found One!!!
Found One!!!
I called a LFS in St. Louis today and they have a 4" fahaka and a 2" fahaka for $39 each.
I had planned on turning my tank over to SW but I think I'll go pick up one of these bad boys instead.
My tank ph goes from 7.8 after water change to about 8.2 right before water change.
75 gallon tank is totally cycled.
1 penguin 350
1 emperor 400
Right now there is a 9" pleco and a 2.5" firemouth in there.
I hate to part with either one of them.
I know the firemouth will have to go, I already set up a new place for him.
My cousin has a 150 gallon central american display tank I'm sure he'll be comfy in.
Is the pleco and the fahaka compatible or will the fahaka shred it.
I definately don't want to risk something killing old "posiedon". If they aren't I can give him to an LFS.

Re: Found One!!!
You know that eventually the Fahaka is going to need a minimum of 120 gallons. They have an incredible growth rate as well...about an inch a month for the first year.
Congrats on finding one!

Re: Found One!!!
They really need a 120 by themselves.
I was kinda under the impression 75 gallons was ok for 1 of them.
Is a 120 something that I will have to get in a year or will the 75 gallon be ok for 2 years or so.
Because untill I get a new(bigger) house, the 75 gallon is about all the tank I have room for.

Re: Found One!!!
I just now figgured out how to use the pufferpedia, I always thought it was the section in the forums.
I guess I'm gonna have to pass on the fahaka, I can't buy one knowing that all I have is a temporary home.
Plus, I really don't want to set up a 120 gallon tank for 1 fish.
Now I'm gonna read everything in the pufferpedia.

It's good to know you are going to wait. Your planning will be worth it in the long run.

There is a TON of great info in our Library too! Most folks don't go there much, I think...
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I love the library. I have read the articles several times. Wish I could write one....maybe about fahakas one day.

Sweet. My goal is to one day have one or all of these tanks here in some magazines.

You can always help out on the clown forum at Reef Central. If you really think you can give good info (or are good at research), you can join the Crew at WetWebMedia. Lots of really good percs there! I went diving the Red Sea--on them!

Re: Found One!!!
Sounds good to me. I will check it out. I do know more about clownfish than anything else. I am working hard on puffers as well. I am definitely more saltwater savvy than fresh.Pufferpunk wrote:You can always help out on the clown forum at Reef Central.
