Is it just my puffers...?

Post by Troender »

When I bought my pair of carinotetraodon lorteti, I did a little research, and found that they were supposed to be very much alike c. irrubesco. The only difference was supposed to be the color of the tail at the males. Well, I have both lorteti and irrubesco, and they are NOT alike! My irrubesco male looks like...well...an irrubesco male. He looks exactly like an irrubesco male. The lorteti, on the other hand: The tail is very different, having a beautiful light blue color, with a white rim. It's belly has a beautiful red stripe, and the fins on the up- and downside is very red. He is just gorgeous!
So is it just me, or are those puffers supposed to be so much unlike each other.
I will try to get some pics, but my camera is lousy when it comes to tank pics. It doesn't want to show the true colors if I use the flash, and if I don't use the flash, the pics becomes very, very blurry (both the fish and I have to stay very still to avoid that, and that's impossible for both of us  ). BTW I'm out of battery on that camera, so it will be a while before it's reloaded enough to use again.

Love the blue tail. Here's a really blurry (& old) pic of my lorteti male:

Thanks! :D I love him very much. He's one of my most beautiful puffers, and I am proud of him!

Well, it is a lorteti then. When I first got him, he was very much alike the irrubesco, but he transformed into this beautiful thing. They are definitely more aggressive and bolder than the irrubesco too. And more interactive. I've never regretted buying them.

I hope that lorteti has puffed in that pic, PP!
