New Fahaka puffer!

I would return the puffer until you have a properly cycled tank. Please do more research on your purchases, housing, cycling before you buy them!

He wasnt that expensive. I only bought him for 10 dollars. I'll keep to testing the water every couple of days but from my readings the tanks looks pretty cycled to me. My buddy that is the manager at the fish store told me once that there is no time frame for cycling a tank. the tank will be cycled once the readings say it is.

Although there may not be a strict time frame for the actual cycling, it'll still take some time. As well, test strips are known to be inaccurate. If possible, bring some water to your friend at the pet store and have them test it with their liquid tests.

Do you know how long I should wait until I feed my fahaka cray fish? crayfish is about same size as fahaka.

What has he been eating so far? You don't want the cray to be doing damage to the puffer. I'd say a cray 1/2 his size would be OK.

So what are your water parameters? And please don't say "fine".

He has been eatting alot of snails. He just kepts on eatting.I guess the place where i bought him didnt feed him enough. I went to this other pet store today where I normaly get all my feeders guppies and snails and bought like 30 snails. that should last me for a couple of days. I try to breed snails in my feeder tank before but I am always unsucessful. as well I feed him 1 cm square of cut up shrimp twice a day and remove and uneatten food after 10 minutes. my water parameters? I didnt do another water test if thats what you mean. Im going to wait for a couple of days. Next time I stop by the place where I got him i'll bring a little cup of my water so they can test it.

With him being in an uncycled tank you need to test daily. Get yourself a Master Test Kit & test, test, test!

I did a ammonia test 5 minutes ago and it read 0 ppm

I just did another water strip test. the results were:

gh -30
kh -120
ph -7.0
no2 -0
no3 -20

I will test it again tomorrow. I think on monday i'll go to the fish store and bring a cup of my water just to be safe. I have to stop by there anyways to pick up some more blood worms for my rope fish.

If i buy frozen snail and shell fish from a grocery store, is it safe to feed my fahaka puffer that?

As long as it is defrosted before feeding. Try to get liquid vitamins to add to the defrosting water. Let soak for at least an hour.

liquid vitamins? like what kind? where can a get them and do you know of any names? i usually defrost food for them in a mixture of mineral water and their own water
