What are some Green Spotted Puffer tank mates?

I want to know what there tank mates are so I know for future refrence if I want to get them a few tank mates!!

It depends on the puffer. Some are particularly territorial, and will attack anything else you put into the tank. Others have kept GSP's with other GSP's, porcs, and I know a couple that have them in reef tanks.

I have 2 other GSP's in mine. Also a Rainbow a Scat and a Butterfly Goby. Everyone gets along fine though the rainbow took quite a bit of fin nipping from the puffers.

I would have to say that if you fish are being nipped then its not that fine. It would be like living in a house with domestic violence IMO

The problem is Puffers can happily co-habit with no signs of aggression and then they get bigger and send off "Intruders" to their tank. With no places to hide the other fish get battered and stressed which only has one outcome. Only when plenty of people have kept puffers in with other fish for a full lifetime of the fish can we happily suggest tank mates.

For now all we can sy is that you can try tank mates but be prepared to rehome them at short notice

The rainbow was moved to the Discus tank where he lives his life safely now. The only other mates for the puffers I have now is the Butterfly Goby and he minds his own business. It all depends on the puffer. Some can just have different demeanors like people, some being calm others being quite the bully.

But I don't condone nipping of fins, I want everyone to live happily and calmly.

My GSP is in a reef and he doesn't bother any of the corals. At first when I put some zoas in there, he nip a few of them, but later on stopped and never nipped on them anymore. He's also in there with a Tomato Clown, and Lawnmower Blenny and he ignores them.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like GSP's are WAY more agressive in FW to low end brackish than they are in full salt?

I've seen multipe GSP's in full salt systems that get along just fine with tankmates. Yet it seems like they always try to kill any tankmates in a FW system.

Just a thought.
