ammonia chart and BW
i just got a new ammonia kit not from the company i normally get it from (store didnt have anymore) and the card comes with salt water readings and freshwater readings...i have a brackish tank with a salinity of around 0.005...not over 0.010 for sure. should i read the fresh water or salt water? the coloration is from yellow to a dark green on the chart. in the salt water version its a dirtier looking yellow to the same dark green as the freshwater chart. my ammonia came up as an inbetween color for the yellow on the SW chart and the FW chart...
make sence?

You shouldn't have any ammonia on either chart. Why is it you don't know the exact SG of your tank? There is a huge difference between 1.005 & 1.010. Like, an extra cup of salt/5g!

Re: ammonia chart and BW
first, because my hydrometer starts at 0.010 and i cant find any place that doesnt sell it under that.
second im just clarifying what chart to use. there doesnt seem to be any ammonia in there however i was double checking with the forum because one of the colors is very close to the same on both charts (and its a little had to tell)...except on SW its 00ppm and on the fresh water its .25ppm...

Order a hydrometer online then. You really need to have one on hand that starts at 1.000.

Hard to tell, since we don't know your SG. Looks like you're going to have to do some more searching of LFS. SeaTest & Instant Ocean hydrometers both start at 1.000. So try calling 1st.
