Heya,
So I've known that I'm going to have to upgrade my 60litre biorb with 2 SAPs and 3 otos for a while now. It has been suggested to me to get a 4ft long tank as they like the length to swim in the current of the filters.
However, I am suddenly very busy at work and would like to go back to one tank, so was thinking of transferring them over to my 3ft tank for now, so that I can break the orb down.
The 3ft tank currently has a pair of Rams (breeding pair), 8 Harlequins and 1 Honey gourami as well as some shrimp and 4 otos. So I would take all the fish except the otos back to the LFS giving me 7 otos and 2 SAPs in the 3ft tank. I would also add my ehiem aquaball 2210 that I have be using as the filter in the orb with the SAP's, so that there is more filtration.
My questions are - do you think this is a good idea or should I just get a 4ft tank (which I don't actually have room for until I move flats)? Also do you reckon I could put any more SAP's or dwarf puffers in as well? The tank is 3 ft long, will be densely planted (2 planted tanks combined into 1), and holds about 25US gallons. I know that you are supposed to have 15gallons for the 1st SAP and then 10gallons for each thereafter, but that is mainly because they are messy eaters, so if I was religious with the water changes and I had my 2 filters on there (rena 600 external and an ehiem aquaball 2210), surely I could add maybe 1 more SAP?

If I were in this position I think i'd move the SAP's over leaving the other fish in the biorb see how it goes for a few days, preferably at a weekend or something like that so you can keep an eye on it and then if it all works out tear the biorb down.
THen when you've moved get your bigger tank, if you havent got the space for it then it's not worth getting it yet.
I wouldnt add any more puffer to the 3ft tank I think you will be pushing it with the SAP's in there but with your planned religious water changes should be OK.

Cool thankyou, that sounds like a good plan. Will let you know how it goes. I can also take better pictures of the 3ft as the glass isn't curved, so I'll be able to show you what it looks like.
