Teeth tapping?
so, my full grown (or close to full grown) figure 8 has just picked up the habit of tapping his teeth as part of his begging routine - he opens and closes his mouth really quickly, about 5 times and then wont do it again when i approach the tank. His teeth arent overgrown at all and gets a steady diet of snails (4+ times a week)
I feel like have see some marine puffers in stores do this, but never my fig 8

Re: Teeth tapping?
Noth my current puffers do this occasionally, not heard em do it for a while though. Usually a burst of 2 or 3 and then it stops. Attention seeking via teeth.

My Fakaha just started grinding his teeth to get my attention, sounds like he is cracking a large snail

Re: Teeth tapping?
maybe the grinding will help keep the teeth worn down, maybe thats a natural behavior too ?
i know my teeth get worn down from grinding on each other ---

Re: Teeth tapping?
i read an article about puuffers "tasting" stuff in their aquariums and how it can be a real problem if they go after something like a heater cord ---- thermometer is prob harmless though
but does anything think a fig 8 or young gsp sized puffer could do significant damage to plastics like heater chords ???
