Arothron Stellatus... Who has one raise your hand!

Post by JETPILOT »

Anyone have one of these in their tank? I bought a 1.5" Stellatus at the pet store and had no idea what I bought. He is now 9" only 6 months later. He eats 4 large cocktail shrimp per day plus some krill. Anyone else have one of these? if so how big is yours?

Not all aquariums will take "donations", just because you offer. Especially large ones. You might want to set that up now.

i also have one, was sold to me as a dog face puffer, at the moment he is around maybe 5 inches long. I've only had him about a month but he is an absolute pig! he get's cranky if he doesn't get fed on time, i feed him the equivalent of about 4 baby octopus tentacles of a night and about half that most mornings.

he is currently residing in my display tank's sump until his own tank finishes cycling. there are pics of him in my other thread.

I found a home for him. The Orlando International Airport here has a 3000 gallon aguaqium @ the food court in the terminal. He will be going to his new home sometime soon. So be sure to visit him if you happen to be at the airport. He is now about 14" long @ a year and a half old. He recently ate an ocelaris clown, a singapore angel, and a cream angel in addition to his daily feedings of crayfish, squid, shrimp and entire sheets of nori in one bite. I can't keep up with this guy financially. What a beast!

I'm glad you found him a good home. Are they aware that this puffer may eat their present inhabitants? This is why we shouldn't buy any creature we can't house for life.

Imagine sitting at the food court in front of the tank eating your McDonalds with your kids then all of a sudden a 24" Puffer devours another tankmate. The kids would cry for a week! Could I get sued? Maybe I should hire a lawyer and have him draw up some kind of contract seperating me from the actions of the puffer.

They should still be made aware--it's your responsibility.
