F8 & Green Spot Puffer (Do they just differ in appearance?)

I know the Green Spot is supposed to grow a bit larger. Other than size, how do these puffers differ?

One is low end brackish, one is high end brackish, so the require different water parameters. They also have different personalities IMO.

ah, okay I was wondering what the difference was.

Would a GSP live with bubble bee guppies in harmony like the F8 should?

I wouldn't chance the GSPs w/BBGs. Of the dozen or so BBGs I've put in with my F8s only one ever lived any number of years. The rest "disappeared".

I do have BBG with GSPs for several years without problems, but I would not generalize or recommend that, since I got both at the same size. BBG even defend the cave they did "dig" under a rock against the GSPs which are now at least 3times longer and approx 20 times heavier. Since my GSPs also live peacefully with fiddler crabs (except their larvae, which are eaten) I think at least those specimens are rather mild mannered (I also reared some molly fry with them). However I am prepared to seperate all of those animals if any signs of aggression should occur.

On the other hand I have encountered very aggressive F8s. Therefore, I think it not only depends on the species, but also on the personality of the fish and the experiences it has made.

In general, however, I agree that F8s are usually more peaceful.

Can BBG's adapt to marine conditions?

Yes, as long as the process is slow. But they naturally occur below 1.01 and IMO should not be kept in higher SG. I keep mine along with the puffers at about 1.008.
