15g Tall - Can I have (1) F8 Puffer and (1) Bubble Bee Guppy

Post by mademperor »

I have a new 15g Tall Aquarium. I would like to know if I could put a F8 Puffer and a Bubble Bee Guppy in there.

The tank is currently empty (I've been into FW for awhile now, so I know how to cycle ect)

Filtration will be a Mini-Rapids Cannister Filter upgraded with Eheim Substrat pro, Polyfilter, Blackdiamond Carbon, and of course a aquaclear sponge on the input lol. (at $20 I love these things)

I'd probably do two bumblebees, they seem pretty social.

1 F8 and 2 Bubble bees?

That would be great. The only other fish I was really looking at was a dragon goby, but I don't think the F8 would work out well with it.

Not in that size tank, especially, but yea, likely a poor idea.

lol, kind of confused. You're talking about the dragon goby being the bad idea I assume. The puffer and two bubble bees are okay though right?

BBGs are awesome - some one can correct me if im wrong, but if you have enough hiding places for them to create territories, you can prob have more than 2 -- maybe 4??? is that pushing it ???

i have 5 and one fig 8 in a 20 gal and they get along pretty well -- the gobys are very territorial and its fun to see them squabble, but when i didnt have enough caves, i would see fin damage from too much squabbling.

1st of all the tank would have to be large enough to decorate heavily, so the gobies have a way to escape into a space small enough for the puffer not to be able to get them. Even so, they might "disappear' anyway. I have introduced probably a dozen BBGs into my F8's tank over the years... 1 left.

So far so good with my combo of three BBGs and 2 F8's(knock on wood), the puffers even let the goby's hang out while they eat and have the leftovers. They seem to pretty much ignore the goby's but have noticed that when a puffer gets a little close those goby's sure can take off in a hurry, quick little buggers they are. Also the tank is pretty heavily decorated with fake/live plants and ornaments so there are lots of nooks and crannies for all.
