are any of your puffers scared of the light?

Post by t1gerbee »

Im having some problems with my Fig 8, (see hospital for details)

but last night i walked into the kitchen after all the lights were out and just flicked on a small side light.

Would you believe it my puffer had a white belly and was swimming across the front of the tank... not his normal dark belly pacing up and down the back corner...

course as soon as i flicked on the main kitchen light to see if my eyes were decieving me, he shot back into the corner, went dark grey and began pacing!

the tank is heavily planted with tall java fern and black gravel.. so he has plenty of security...

any one got any experience of this or is my fish just a bit mental? will he get better as he gets used to it all?

Probably just settling in still, getting used to these new strange surroundings that he can see outside oh his tank. It can take weeks for them to get comfortable.

LOL, my Figure 8's hate the fridge door opening and closing when the room is dark, it freaks them out as it closes.

He use to be more friendly but he's been like that ever since i rearranged his tank but he has been getting better.

Is just like us when your in a dark room and someone flicks on a light it can bother the eyes as it takes a bit to focus and what not, just like when someone flicks on a light while your sleeping
