Treating IP.
And was horrified. I was going to pick up a porc I had seen a few days prior (I had to set up a quarantine first) but the porc was sold and all the others were loaded with IP's and wouldn't even eat. They had abei puffers too labeled as red eye red spot puffers or something like that, there were at least 10 of them in a 20 gallonish tank and most were pretty beat up. Then they had a fahaka and pig nose in 2 seperate 5 gallon tanks. The pig nose was healthy but the fahaka had been there for months, is very personable but disgustingly skinny.
Of course I left and went to another fish store where I got a new 1 1/2-2 inch porc! He's incredibly personable and he ate at the store but he seems yellowish. Is that from being a juvenile or location or something? I'll try to get pics up soon.
He seems to have IP's whats the best medicine to treat it with?

so it sounds like you went to country critters lol..i know they dont treat their freshwater/brackish puffs with any respect what so ever..i feel so bad for the little humpback puffers they have been there for months. Poor guys just want a bigger tank and some nice food. Personally the workers at that fish store scare me...or look like punks. So what other store did you pick up that cute little porc up from!? Sorry im a bit off topic!

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a fish a man, and he'll eat for weeks.
Re: So today I went to my LFS...
when i use the word punks..i mean like kind of teenagers that have those really noisy cars that always go up and down the street at 2am at the morning while poor chib is trying to sleep...and they dont really seem to care about the job and just do the most minimum job and then chat on their phone for the entire workday while your stuck dealing with customers while they just do mindless manual work while talking on their phone.. Its impossible to approach to them because they could care less about customers and their concerns. So OVERALL they are just not friendly..and it scares chibodee, because im shy to begin with and I feel like im at fault by asking them a questionPufferpunk wrote:Hey, what's wrong with punks!

lmao I did go there. I went to aquahut looking fora puff but they had none and I almost picked up an angler, but decided to hold off until I get a steady food supply going. I got the little guy at Magic Isle pets.Chibodee wrote:so it sounds like you went to country critters lol..i know they dont treat their freshwater/brackish puffs with any respect what so ever..i feel so bad for the little humpback puffers they have been there for months. Today he has some spots on his fins. It's not ich (unless FW ich is totally different from SW ich) So can anyone tell me some good all purpose meds too use on him and good IP meds too? He fattened up a nice amount too. He eats some foods like a pig (the foods they fed him at the store:Bloodworms and Krill
Will try to get pics later.

My LFS usually has very small porcs as well, and they are adorable.

Gorgeous! I agree with pufferpunk, he doesn't look skinny. He looks really healthy coming from an LFS. I personally wouldnt worry about the spots on his fins yet. My fish get these sometimes and are usually either abrasions from rubbing against something or stress spots. Since you've just got him, id wait awhile for him to settle in before medicating him for anything.

Yup, definitely looks healthy! Good find! A lot of times, they will get fin damage from shipping, since the bags they are put in are so small.
