My GF and I do changes on her F8 tank of SG 1.005 by starting the python in a small bucket with the salt, then when it's got a couple gallons in it, pointing it into the tank... after the tank is up to 3/4 the salt is pretty much disolved, and the brine gets dumped in gradually. After it's all full and mixed, the SG is double checked, but it's never been more than a point off what it was.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.
