Fangs puffer

Some years ago I had one of these beautiful puffers, unfortunataly I didn't know how to take good care of it. Resulting in it's death.
Now for some years I have a community tank thats doing very well. So I was thinking of starting a new puffer tank.
I really like the puppy eyes of the fangs puffer (although all puffers have them).
But what's the perfect habitat for one of these?
I was thinking of a 15 gl tank, planted and with sand on the bottom. Would this do, or shall I try to get something a little bit bigger? What are your experience with feeding? Everyday or every other day, or something else.
I want to feed it mussles, cockels, bloodworms ect. More idea's??
Tankmates are not possible, I believe. Last time I had tried oto's but it resulted in half oto's So I'm thinking of sometimes putting in some feederfish (guppy's?)
What are your experiences with these puffers?

As for feeding it depends on the puffers size if its a young specimen mybe 2-3 times a week but a more mature speicmen can be fed once a week.

Your setu sounds fine, sand or gravel as a substrate is your preference, it wont make a difference to him. Feeding times depend on size of the puffer, if he's a couple of inches every other day should be fine and then every couple of days later on. Check out the feeding article in the library for some food ideas and then see what you can get him to take. They're not really a piscivore but if you decide to give him a feeder occasionally should be OK, just ensure they're well quarantined.

Thanks for the quick replay.
I have read that on pufferpedia, I was a bit confused because on the pufferlist they saying a tank of 10 gl will do. It is a lurker / ambush predator and the pufferpedia says its a very active swimmer, constantly on the 'hunt'.
Can anybody tell me if it's a active swimmer, or a lurker??
I'm still looking for a nice tank so I still can decide what is best for him

Activity seems to depend on individual specimens. Some are quite active, others may not be. Pot luck on that really.

Anybody else who has tips and experience with keeping a fangs puffer???

Does the height of a tank makes a big difference. If I compare a 20 Gl tank with a 15 Gl the only difference is 10cm of height. Although it will cost me 20 Euro's extra

I have one, and it's my favorite puffer! It's my most active one, and the one with the most personality. Highly intelligent fish. And very hungry! He is the most violent of them too Some day he will take my fingers instead of the food...

Longer tanks are generally better than taller, but the 5 gallons does make a difference as well. Definitely go with the larger tank.

BTW. Go for the larger tank. I have mine in a 22G. With his personality and activity level, I would say that's to small for him. I will move him into a 30G pretty soon.

I checked out a Norwegian forum, and the fish database there says 30G as the smalles tank for them. I would agree on that.

Ok good news for the future fang. I have bought a 40 Gal tank. So my community fish will go in that one, the puffer will get the community 30 Gal tank. The next step is to decorated the tank and get a good filter. Now I have an Eheim 2213 for tanks till 250 liters, and an extra Eheim 2011 (for tanks till about 100liters). So the 30Gl will get the 2011 till I buy a larger one, before the puffer is coming.
And then the waiting begins till I find the fang, I'm afraid to go to the lfs before the tank is totally set up, because I don't know if I can stand the temptation if I found one.
