Macroalgae or seagrass for mid-Brackish GSP Tank?

Like the title say, anyone have any success with seagrass or Macroalgae in a mid-level brackish tank? Preferably species that aren't toxic if (when) a puffer takes a bite. Anyone know of a list of specific species that can live in brackish water?

Safety Space for shrimp in GSP tank

Has anyone tried making a cave or box-like structure for shrimp to hide in? I know people have made fry sanctuaries, which are just some sort of cave with tiny holes in it for the fry to hide in. You think shrimp would hide inside a cave that had lots of tiny holes and was filled/surrounded by with ...

Aragonite Sand?

I have really good quality tap water with a pH of about 7.5ish and some good trace minerals (and prime to get rid of any chemicals). What's the benefit of Aragonite? I've heard that if you have good water quality to begin with and maintain it, aragonite really has no benefit. What else could lower m...

Re: Tank Size for GSP

Thanks for the responses. I was just looking for some reasons other than the generic ones (I knew there had to be some). Very interesting about the physiology and how they need the larger space for exercise, I imagine that would matter a lot. I certainly agree with you guys overall (bigger tank = be...

Re: Diatoms, Ghost shrimp and Moonlights, OH MY! (PICTURES!)

How did you introduce your ghost shrimp? I would LOVE to have ghost shrimp with my 2 GSPs. Did you just plunk them in there or try to hide them first/sneak them into the tank?

Puffer Fish Tank Essentials

I have two GSP in a tank with generic gravel and plastic plants and I'm looking to re-do it in a more healthy and more aesthetic way. I'm a college student, read: broke, limited space, and moving across the US in 6 months and counting for grad school. They're in a too small 5 gallon hex tank right n...

Tank Size for GSP

I realize the standard recommended tank size for an adult GSP is 55 gallons(ish). I've heard of people getting away with 20 gallons for younger ones that are still small. My question is WHY? And I mean specifically why. I get size to move around. Clearly keeping the tank chemically healthy is import...
