oh and btw, chloramine in the water is not very good for these fixed bacteria!! :S

i used to work for such a company and they can hold live, inactive bacteria onto a jelly like matrix in a special solution until they come into contact with the water, which is when they become active. a downfall is they cannot reproduce so they are only active for as long as they live by which time...
