Re: Advice
Well I have been watching (very closely) a fahaka at one of my lfs's in hopes of buying when I move out and buy the appropriate sized tank. There is of course a catch..this fahaka has been in the same tank for over 6 months...no heater (water almost icey to the touch), 30 gallons (puffer is a good ...

Well, considering you only have 3 ornament type things in there it would be easy enough to figure out. Take out the rock and the pot, my guess is its the rock. Then give those fish some real decor, like plants, real or fake, give them something that can keep them busy! Hehe. The driftwood can affec...

Wait till you see a nice big poo and then think about feeding again. Try offering shelled peas and this will help give him some vegetation in his diet. Good point. You say you tested the sand, how did you do that exactly? I would put some in a cup with your tap water and a cup without sand next to ...

Success !!
Alright, time for an update. First off thanks GekkoGeck0 for the link, I appreciate. I found a guy here in Quebec that is working towards distributing blackworms to East Canada, so hopefully it works out and we can start getting some too :) He's supposed to let me know by the end of the month so I w...

Adding CC, will raise the pH. If anything, I'd add peat. I don't really understand the high pH, since your tap water isn't there. True, I don't understand either. Can fluctuation in pH be caused by Nitrates? I mean i'm usually around 10ppm, but it can go up to 20-25 before a water change, or if I h...

I hope you manage to rectify the problem, I know how helpless you feel. This is what I went through and Iwe managed to pull through. I wish you ...

Go online to some of the cricket farms. A lot of them sell worms also. My puffs love crickets too! Mmm...If you're talking about blackworms thanks but that won't work...i'm in Canada. There are no such farms that I know of in Canada, and the ones in the US are not able to ship across the border. I ...

What is your pH out of the tap? If its much lower out of the tap I'd do more frequent, smaller water changes to avoid any sort of stress from that. But if its just as high out of your tap, I would rather see you try to lower it naturally instead of using chemicals. Something like using peat pellets...

First off, what are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings? What are you doing to lower your pH and what is your pH, what is it normally? Telling us OK doesn't give us anything to go on. Have you tried a live nightcrawler? Are his teeth overgrown to the point that he can't eat? Alright, I did s...

Mbu Puffer not eating...can somebody pls help!
Hi all. My Mbu puffer has not been eating for 2-3 weeks now, he is really skinny, lost a lot of weight, and I am afraid to lose him. Last week he had lost his good humor, would only stay on the sand in the bottom not coming up to me or food. Here are a few details: - Mbu is a baby, 3-4" max, - ...
