Re: DP Query - IP's?

I'll be d*mned... WallyMart had the Jungle fizz tabs. Thanks for telling me to look there! I started treatment last week (just finished day 8 ). I'm going to do 12 days (as I spent the first 3-4 trying to find a combination that he would eat). Snails are definitely his preference. One crushed snail,...

Can do, will do!

I have both prazipro (liquid) and levamisole hcl (powder) on hand. Can I use either of these orally (soak food in)? Or is treating the water sufficient in this case? Jungle Parasite Guard is really difficult to find in stores in these parts.

Re: DP Query - IP's?

He actually eats like a horse... one snail/day on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday; 2 snails/day Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Saturday is fasting day. Occasional bloodworms as a treat. He eats them all with gusto. I can even get him to eat a blanched, shelled pea every now and again... I guess I'm goi...

Re: Puffer Pic - Opinions Wanted

Thanks for the replies! I'll try switching up his diet a bit and increase feedings. I'm going to hold off on doing another IP treatment unless I see more distinct clues of IPs.

FWIW I did enter the photo contest... Hopefully, I wasn't too late!?!

Puffer Pic - Opinions Wanted

Below is a pic of my DP, Neville. I've had him for about 14 months. He's very happy as a singleton in his 10g tank. I've fought IP's on three different occasions (last time was 7-8 months ago). He's always had a bit of a chin (or jowls if you will). He's never been as rounded as most DP's I've seen ...

Re: My peas are hangin' out around the bottom

Since you are on a budget, try looking on craigslist or freecycle (or the Canadian equivalents) for a larger tank, filter, etc. I've got 4 tanks and all but one came from craigslist ads.

World's most timid DP...

... or the world's boldest ghost shrimp?! I've had Neville, my DP, since July and a single ghost shrimp, Big Mama, since August. Big Mama is at least three times Neville's size and she rules the tank. I've seen her take bloodworms from Neville. She chases him around the tank. On one occasion she wen...

Carolina Biological in NC has them... maybe worth calling to see how many come in this kit:

IPs or not?!

I battled ips with my DP about 8 weeks ago. No problems since... until tonite. He had some clear dangling poo, but it wasn't stringy and cobweb-like. It was rigid and almost exactly like a bloodworm casing.. even down to the visible segments. No other problems noted. He eats well and it takes him 7+...

Re: poor puffers need help @ store

My DP had a particularly resistant case of IPs. It survived two courses of treatment with levamisole hci. YMMV.

I'd suggest filling your bathtub, dechloinate properly, add melafix and an airstone, then stay there for no less than 10 days.

Re: Please help - sick fahaka

You could use a garlic press... they are easy to find at grocery stores down here.

Ahh! I LOVE the smell of garlic and bloodworms in the morning!
