Moving HOMES Temporary Tank?
Hello fellow forum members : ) I will soon be moving to a new house and I need an opinion about moving my GSP and tank. This tank is already cracked on the bottom (repaired with silicone and plexiglass) so I am going to have to empty it completely with the hopes of preserving it during the move. Can...

Re: What happened to you today :)
I went for a routine Drs appointment this morning...Worked for the rest of the day. I work at the internet company so I cruise the puffer forum sneakily.... I am expecting and haven't felt many baby kicks today... probably will be awake all night tonight to baby AC's version of DDR! Going to make di...

Re: puffer and crabs
Hmm I will be interested to see what happens in the future... I had the crabs in the tank before the puff so I wonder if her growing up getting pinched has traumatized her. I'd be happy if she'd actually eat one. She's so picky she won't even eat snails anymore. I may have spoiled her with bloodworm...

Re: pls help my moms "phantom" tank! cant figure it out!!!!
I had the same issue in my freshwater tank. I had a small 3" Pictus Catfish in with 5; 1" neons, and 3; 1.5" larger tetras. Fish would mysteriously disappear! IF most of the fish body is not wider than the catfish they are goners. Catfish mouths open into almost a perfect circle (as w...

Re: poodle and crabs
I have fiddler crabs in with my GSP and she doesn't try to eat them at all. I saw her get pinched by one of the males with his large claw when i first got them and that was the end of that. I also provide some hiding places for the crabs so they aren't stressed but the only time she bothers with the...

Re: Ammonia and Nitrite Low Nitrate High
Did I sniff the shells...
Well, I do sniff a lot of things but no I did not sniff those. I'm assuming one would do that to see if they were rotten? phew I'm pretty sure I'd gag if they were.
I should have some new water level numbers tonight.

Re: Ammonia and Nitrite Low Nitrate High
Thanks again for all the advice! This forum is awesome!!! I found 2 empty Ramshorn snail shells in the tank and removed them just in case Mrs Puff didn't remove the entire snail and it's rotting. I read online that prior to getting a canister filter/powerhead I may want to buy a dry/wet vac and atta...

Re: Ammonia and Nitrite Low Nitrate High
I always do close to 50% water changes and I do vacuum the gravel. I never clean the mesh as it is attached to the bottom of the top of the under gravel filter. Thank you so much to everyone who has responded. I feed Mrs Puff last night but not too much like before. I got my API liquid tes...

Re: Ammonia and Nitrite Low Nitrate High
Ok, so I may have forgotten an important detail. My tank was for the fiddler crabs prior to getting the puffer. Therefore it does not have the standard filtration system or substrate. It has sand and gravel. http://smokinjewellery.com/tankdiagram.GIF The green portion is the under-gravel filter cust...

Re: Ammonia and Nitrite Low Nitrate High
I just found out from the city that Chandler's water average Nitrate levels are 5.0 ppm with highs at 9.0ppm .. Would that contribute to my problem significantly? I apologize my stick testers have kept me ignorant about the correct level numbers I just know the colors. :? Thanks for the advice about...

Ammonia and Nitrite Low Nitrate High
Hello, I'm brand new to the forum and I have had my puffer for about 6 months. She lives in a 29 gallon brackish tank with 3 fiddler crabs. I have a bit of a mystery..(in my mind anyway) with the Nitrate levels. The ammonia is nearly zero The Nitrite is zero The Nitrate is high, I can check the numb...
