Re: Thanks!
You also might want to get more glass cats - they're schoolers. Also, the African dwarf frog needs a buddy or two. :) Or, is it an African dwarf frog? Hopefully it's not an African clawed frog! Its the dwarf one who came with a snail and bamboo in a mini ecosystem tank. He did have a buddy but said...

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for getting me on the right track and update on out progress :D Puffydyle (GSP) moved to the 30 gallon tank built in out basement wall. I changed the base to sand and added a ton of plastic plants and rocks. He seems to be doing very well and is much happier a...

Re: Is Puffydyle sick??
Jungle worked for me. But if they gave you Gel-Tek, that's pretty much the best stuff on the market, and hard to get ahold of, too! Is that what it is? Yes they gave me Gel-Tek... and I've read the directions and I'm going to treat the other fish per the directions of not feeding fish adn fiev drop...

I seem to have gotten the No3 stabilized its down to 20 from 110, we're working towards zero but we're in a lot better place. Snail tank we got up and running tonight. The large tank for the other fishes comes tomorrow and they'll make the move then. I went to the LFS to get the Jungle and they high...

Re: New GSP
So here is where I am at (1 week in). The tank seems to have stabilized. I got the snail tank up and running today and the large tank for the other fishes comes tomorrow. I should be able to get it up tomorrow night and then Puffydyle will have a tank to himself and we can start moving towards brack...

Re: How to use refractometer?
You need to get some calibration solution to calibrate it. Adjust the level to what the solution is supposed to be by putting some on the glass, close the top glass over it & look into the brightest light you can find. You can adjust the focus, by turning the eyepiece. If you can't get calibrat...

Re: Is Puffydyle sick??
Lumpy tummy doesn't necessarily mean parasites. Lumpy tummy usually means that they just ate. The white poo is definitely a sign, though. Pretty much any deworming product will do the trick. I use Jungle Parasite Guard and soak their food in a concentrated mixture of meds and water, rather than jus...

Re: Is Puffydyle sick??
So I got the messages today after I'd left from work, upon arriving home I did a 50% water change and then tested again, the levels are lower but still not there, so I'll keep doing it every 12 hours from now on. I also saw poo like white things hanging off two of the fish,so I think there are some ...

Re: Is Puffydyle sick??
So I have Metronidazole and FOCUS but want to treat the entire tank and as they eat different foods I'd rather just add to water. Do I need to get the Levamisole Hydrochloride? Is this something I can get from a LFS, pet shop or the local sw specialty store?

Re: Is Puffydyle sick??
Okay for my chemistry first try... pH 8.2 No2 0.1 No3 110 KH 100 mg/L GH Honestly I got to 300 and stopped as that put is already in the very hard group (the water was no where near turning blue...) So after reading the booklets in the test I'm doing a 25% water change and adding pH decreaser and te...

Re: Is Puffydyle sick??
So the molly ate the ghost shrimp before Puffydyle could get them so I dug him up a couple worms which he gobbled up right away. As he ate as and saw us the black faded away. His tummy was lumpy meaning paracites. So I now need to treat the entire tank. What do I need and how do I do it?? Also which...
