My other puffer went through the whole worm rigamaroo so I already have the medication for that but ich is new to me. I read the article in the library con...

Worms (ip) in my snail tank??
I breed snails in a separate tank for my puffer and just changed the water today. When I poured the water in it circulated some snail droppings and other gunk around the tank and I noticed a clear stringy thing like how a fish would pass a worm. Though snail poop does look like little worms to begin...

Re: New Spotted Puffer and some Questions
Just a little update on my puffer. I transferred him into a 55 gallon tank with a partition to breed snails on the other side, so he has about 40 gallons to himself. I thought I ordered "Safestart" but I got "Aquasafe" so it will be a few more days till i get some of that. A few ...

Re: New Spotted Puffer and some Questions
k well i just did a 50% water change this morning and used aquasafe. Should I use prime right now or wait until next water change? Also, is Safestart even sold in the US?? I went to PetCo, Pet Smart, Pet Club, Walmart, and Exotic Aquarium (LFS about the size of walmart) and no one had it, just some ...

Re: New Spotted Puffer and some Questions
Agreed, read the articles in the library, they'll help you a ton, both with cycling but also with feeding, etc. For now, water changes will keep the toxic levels down, but you've got a good start by adding the seeded gravel/decor. Are you using any dechlorinator, if you are on city (treated) water?...

Re: Mr Green Hates his roomies!
The last test showed high nitrites or nitrates- can't remember which. I worry about dead worms and snails. Try getting Squirt's attention then adding one worm/snail at a time so he can eat it right away. Ive tossed 2 snails in the tank at once (about the size of my pinky nail) and the only thing th...

Re: New Spotted Puffer and some Questions
Thanks for the replies. Will definitely get safestart after school tomorrow as well as a nitrate/nitrite test kit.
If the Nit levels are off, are there kits like the ph kits to adjust them or will the safestart help with those?

Re: New Spotted Puffer and some Questions
1. Ok, so i just tested my tap water and it has (according to the comparative chart) 0ppm Ammonia. So I guess a water change would be beneficial then. As far as the Tetra safestart goes, it is safe to use it in the water while the fish is in there? and do i use it just once to "insta-cycle"...
