Re: is R O water the best for my puffer ?

What I'd do is slowly replace most of that fake stuff with live rock. Make sure it's cured (no die off) or you'll have to cure it in a bucket. Make some caves out of LR for your puffer. No need to change any of the chemistry in your water, WC with the IO will do that. IMO, I'd replace those bioball...

Re: is R O water the best for my puffer ?

I have a Lamotte test kit. I do believe you mean dKH & 12 is very high. I keep my alk at 8-9. It's gotta be the salt they are using. IO is excellent for a FO system. What substrate are you using? How much LR? Kal seems to get something stuck in is throat & then he coughs it out & he's f...

Re: is R O water the best for my puffer ?

Is that dKH? 12dKH is really high but if you add a buffer, your pH is going to go lower. I think you need to start mixing your own salt with a brand that doesn't mix that high. There are other sports your dog can do other than racing (Kal coughs like that sometimes too), like Go-to-Ground, Barn Hun...

bubbles in sump and tank / cloudy

I had a water change done yesterday and now I just noticed bubbles on the filter pads in the wet dry filter and lots of little bubbles in the tank . My protein skimmer has been filling up about a half a cup today . The water coming from the sponge in the sump looks a bit cloudy . Had water test done...

You have a JRT? Do you belong to the JRTCA? All sorts of fun, cool activities for them to do! Kalvin is Champion Go-to-Ground in the Midwest. He's a pretty fast racer too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v345/Pufferpunk/Racing%20Dogs/5Racers.jpg Leader of the pack: http://img.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: is R O water the best for my puffer ?

No need to use all that $alt for such a high SG. 1.020-22 is fine. Is that dKH? What test kit are you using? What kind of salt? I'd forget about the Chemipure too. Isn't that stuff expensive? I thought that the sg was high . I did not make the water they brought it over from the lfs . I guess the l...
