Re: Dwarf Puffers in a brackish?

Thanks for the reply pandora but I know that dwarf puffers are freshwater. I just read in a magazine that they can tolerate brackish water. I always value Agnates replies and i respect your information. It's obvious that your very knowledgeable but why would a reputable magazine like TFH print such ...

Re: Dwarf Puffers in a brackish?

I bought it recently. It had an article in it about nano tanks. It's Volume LVII, Number 4, #633. December 2008. I've always heard that the people in there know what they are talking about but I figured I'd ask you guys before I ran with it.

Dwarf Puffers in a brackish?

I read in Tropical Fish Magazine that dwarf puffers can do good in lightly brackish water. Has anyone else heard this? Has anyone tried this? I have a 29 gal brackish with a GSP and an F8. I wouldn't put the little guys in there just cause they are so small but I would like to pair them with bumble ...

Re: Converted tank

How much salt exactly would it take to reach ".002 per week" for a 29 gal?

Converted tank

I have a tanks set up for freshwater fish (cichlids to be precise) but I recently converted this tank to house puffers. They are all juveniles so they are doing well in the freshwater but I know that I need to make it brackish. My question is how should I make it brackish? Should I just add the mari...

Re: Discoloration Of my Samurai

Thank you very much Agnate for the extremely long post. Although it took me a long time to read it I greatly appreciate the CONSTRUCTIVE critisism. I agree that many of the posts are spiteful but they are welcome as well. Whatever. I actually bought Dr. Axelrods book a while ago and that book detail...

Re: Discoloration Of my Samurai

The biggest problem with forums is that there is a big chance that there will be a misunderstanding. I wasn't trying to say that you guys don't know anything or that I know more, I was just letting you know my own personal experience

Re: Discoloration Of my Samurai

I know that all the puffers I have are brackish and I know that I need marine salt not aquarium salt, however I also know that the other two puffers I have are very much adaptable to freshwater. My GSP is proof positive of that being in freshwater tanks for over a year and doing very well (he has ne...

Re: Discoloration Of my Samurai

Sorry I didn't even read the bright red and pink box stating "Read this before posting!!". I was just anxious to post and get a reply. The tank is a 29 gal and used to be a cichlid tank (I have 3 other cichlid tanks and I've always loved puffers so I converted that one) so the pH is a litt...

Discoloration Of my Samurai

My samurai puffer (Tetraodon erythrotaenia) has become a little darker on the sides. I know that GSPs darken up when they get upset or are about to feed but I'm not sure if samurai's do that. plus it's not the belly thats darkened but the sides. Is my boy sick or just in a bad mood?

Weird Looking Figure 8

I recently bought a figure 8 puffer and just noticed a slight lump on its side toward the rear left of his stomach. He's swimming around just fine and eats voraciously. That lump just looks weird though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
