In loving memory of Fahaka

I have not been posting for the past two to three years because of work commitments and health reasons. However, I felt today that I need to post a thread in rememberance of my fahaka who just passed away last week. Afterall, it was here that I learnt how to take care of puffers. (Mods, please move ...

Re: My fahaka laying eggs?

Pufferpunk, I had her since 2005. Three years and three months to be exact. She was only an inch then. My Fahaka is very friendly most of the time but there are days when she is grouchy and starts dashing from one end to the other end of the tank, banging into the glass! I am worried one day she wil...

Re: My fahaka laying eggs?

Her poo is much larger and pinkish from the food we feed her. The tiny round stuff is all of the same pale beige colour and there are hundreds of them.

I'll try and pick them out for photos when I see them again. Thanks.

My fahaka laying eggs?

Hi everyone, I have these floating "bubbles". They are about 2mm in size each. Are they eggs? They are not obvious until the gravel is being vacuumed water change. That is when we lots of them. The gal has been with me since she was an inch long. It has been two years. I noticed that she h...

Thanks, Hilly. It is slightly pink as you have described. I will follow through with vitamins, daily water changes and Melafix. I have stopped the antibiotics.

Re: Fahaka looks like he is having mumps...now there is another

I just checked the fellow entirely and saw a bump on his back! This time the bump is smaller about the size of an acne and it has a hole on it! Like a whitehead!

Is that a nematode?

I wanna cry...

Re: Fahaka looks like he is having mumps

PP, now that you mentioned shell cutting inside his mouth...he is in the habit of chewing the coral chips in his tank. I think I may have to change the gravel! He just did it again yesterday...I saw him biting a piece the size of a lady's pinky, despite his mouth being swollen.

Re: Fahaka looks like he is having mumps

Hi, here are some pics of the boy. The bump is still there although it does not look as engorged with fluid/blood a few days ago. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t37/cpphotoz/3rdQ07/fahaka_m3.jpg http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t37/cpphotoz/3rdQ07/fahaka_m2.jpg http://i156.photobucket.com/albu...

Fahaka looks like he is having mumps...now there is another

Hi, I would need advise on how I can treat this fellow. He (sorry but I have this fixation that all my fish are males; very wrong concept, I know) is a 7" Fahaka and recently looked like he is storing a red-coloured fish pellet in right cheek. I did not notice it earlier until my mum told me th...

In loving memory of Wedge, the irrubesco

 Wedge died after about 2 weeks of struggling with a sucken stomach which is likely to be due to internal parasite. He had difficulty getting the food into his mouth and I thought once he plumps up, I could knock him out to check if his teeth were overgrown. Sadly, he didn't give me a chance to...

PP, I can't really tell if she pooed. My ceylons have rarely pooed when I am around. :paranoid: The only one to see poo is my husband when he does the water change.

OraLacerta, thanks for the pics. She looks like your puffer...neckless. :roflmfao:

She has got another 2 ceylons for company. I feed every other day or two. The other two puffers eat as much but her tummy doesn't go down. It looks kind of different from a full stomach. How large is your F8 when she was carrying eggs? How do the eggs look like? I have seen my ceylon swell like this...

Teenage Pregnancy

 My ceylon has been bloated for the longest time. She used to look very full for a few days, then she'll go back in shape. A few question 'cos I am pretty worried about her. 1. How long does a ceylon hold her eggs before she releases them? 2. Are there any other way a puffer can be bloated fo...

I am convinced that out of my three Ceylon's, one is definitely a girl and the other two are boys. Several reasons: 1. Her tummy doesn't go down when the other two tummies are flat. 2. She is rounder on the sides even when her tummy downs down. 3. She is a great scavenger (I see that in the irrubesc...
