Re: brown algae in brackish GSP tank
Thanks for the advise guys. It is good to hear that it isn't such a bad thing. I was getting a bit worried. It is only on surfaces not discoloring the water or anything. So I will just scrape it off and next time I do a water change I will pull out the fake corals out and wash them off. Thanks again.

Re: brown algae in brackish GSP tank
I have been doing that on the sides of the tank. But the ornaments are another story. I got some of those fake corals and some caves in there. I was attempting to give the puffers places to explore but it has turned out to be more headache for me than anything. The puffers on the other hand seem hap...

brown algae in brackish GSP tank
Quick question concerning brown algae and the treatment of it. Can I use an algaecide and if so which one? It's a 30 gal with 2 GSP nothing else.

Setting up SW tank for my GSPs
I have just recently purchased a 55 gal tank and stand (only), no filter or anything yet. I need to know how I should go about setting up the tank and what I need (filter, lighting, gravel or sand, coral, ect). What creatures should I use for tank maintenance, if any? I will be moving my GSPs to thi...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!UPDATE
I have purchased a 55 gal tank and will have it up and running within a week or 2. I will get it cycled and move the puffers to it or at least 2 of them. Can GSPs be made full marine or is it better to keep them brackish? I was just considering making the 55 marine if they can be. Because I really e...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
OK. Well maybe I misunderstood your intent. I am upset over loosing the one. I will be treating other 3 for the possible IPs starting tomorrow. Hopefully all will be OK.

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
Apparently no one is completely reading before replying to the things that I have posted!! So before criticizing anymore please do so. We are getting a larger tank. Just don't have it yet. I am well aware of the tank size needed. I came in to ask for help on a sick puffer which unfortunately I wasn'...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
I am currently running an Aqua Clear 50 gal filter on the 29 gal tank. The levels in this tank are fine. I was trying to save a 4th GSP that became very ill in another tank. I will keep on top of the water changes until I can get them in a larger tank.

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
They were at first. But not over the last 2 weeks. Is it really necessary to purchase a larger tank right away when they are only 1.5-2 inches. We are looking for one that isn't so expensive. The 3 are the only ones in a 30 gal. I understand that water changes are very important. I was told that the...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
I really appreciate all the help but unfortunately nothing helped. He is gone now. Maybe if this happens again I can try to treat it sooner than this and have better luck. I hope that it doesn't though. My other 3 GSP are doing really well. Fat and happy. They just haven't quite figured out what the...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
I will go to the store today and try to find some. He is still hanging in there but barely. I am also going to do a 50% water change and see if that helps. The meds that I am using say it isn't needed unless the levels go up but I figure it can't hurt. We are on 3rd day of treatment and he is just g...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
I think my baby is just about gone. He is just on the bottom of tank and barely moving his fins or anything. I just turned out the light hoping that he is just sleeping but I don't think so. He has just been floating around the bottom of the tank for the last hour or so. I guess I will see in the mo...

Re: Trying to save a very sick puffer! HELP!!!
OK thank you. I will give that a shot. When soaking in garlic should I use garlic powder and water or like minced garlic?
