For a BW/SW setup you need to use a marine salt mix. Most likely the salt you are talking about is sodium chloride which will not make a BW/SW setup. The XP series has 2 baskets in the XP-2 so I assume the XP-3 has 3 and the XP-1 has 1. Each basket also has a divider so you can subdivide the basket.
