well I only have one sponge, so ill at least need to grab one more. I agree it is an awesome filter, It was used for about a year when i got it and it is still running stronger than my penguins that are half as old as it.

Same filter i am using right now, I know im due for new media so ill just grab a pack of sponges and slowly swap them out.

ok wow you guys described eveything heis doing exactly lol, the hiding by the thermometer, or in his little hiding spot, and trying to squeeze behind the intake on the filter. so i guess its just a normal thing.

at first thats what i thaught but its random sometimes he just does it at night after he's eaten, but usually when i walk up. almost like he's startled.

i have talked with nick and he said his stared working around 1.018.
i tried to make a nano skimmer out of acrylic but it didnt produce any skimmate and then the silicone wasnt sealed right so it leaked, i couldnt find any of the proper weld on to seal acrylic.
a good plan for a skimmer would help.
