Owning either 30 or 40 gallon breeders for fish, unless you get one secondhand for next to nothing, has always seemed like a waste of space to me. A 65 gallon tank has the same footprint and has a lot more water. More waste dilution is always good for your fish, even if it doesn't add much territor...

I think it's kind of like dogs. It's not the size of the dog but the attitude the dog has ;) So many little dogs have huge attitude, often much more than large dogs. I figured that was the case... GSPs are narcissists...they will not tolerate tank mates, they barely tolerate their own species....maybe if the GSP is a juvenile...but even then..a favorite thing to do is eat fins. Mine is an adult (apparently...), and I thought they only nipped fins off of fish out of territorial or exploration...
