My vet said Hummer used to eat like crazy - he couldn't keep him satsified for a while. Could that have been the feast before the fammine?

Porc. Puffer hasn't eaten in 1 1/2 months!

Hi to everyone! I just got back from out veternarian office - we took our cat - and I was admiring their HUGE porc. puffer named Hummer. When I asked the vet how old he was, he said he wasn't sure but Hummer had not eaten in over 45 days! :( ! He said he spoke to several of his doctor friends, but c...

I'm glad you told me, I probably would have overlooked it. I ordered 3oz instead of 1 just incase I do something wrong. Should I keep the filter carbon and floss out while adding it, or after adding it, or should I just dump it in the back of the filter?

Oh, good , I'm glad to know you are happy with yours. :) I'll pick it up tomorrow and between that and the Bio-spira that I should be recieving this week, my little puffs will be so happy with their clean, chemical free environment, they won't know what hit them! :)

I just wanted to update everyone on my puffers tank. Everyone is doing AWSOME! No itching at all!! I have been doing large water changes as I wait for the bio-spira to get here. Also, I noticed that when I turn on the Protien Skimmer, my little F8 starts rubbing herself on the plants and such - once...

Dear Eric, Usually protien skimmers are for saltwater tanks, but they are finding there are benefits for brackish as well. Protien skimmers, most of the time, are units of their own, but I found one that is a protien skimmer and filter system all in one. Its called the Skilter 250 made by Skilter. I ...

itchy figure eight

Thanks so much to everyone. When I purchased my F8, all of my readings were ok - I think the initial high numbers were due to, as now I'm seeing, overstocking and overfeeding. I felt SO bad when I went to take a new reading about two days after putting my F8 and cats in there and I saw how outrageou...
