Are these OK to feed now and then to abei's? I tried today and they gobbled down both, no problem. I do feed them mainly snails, frozen bloodworms and live blackworms but was wondering if it would be harmful to throw a cricket in now and then.

Thanks for the reply. They are in the same tank, for now. It is a heavily planted 55g. There is a bit of chasing going on after lights out but nothing serious so far. I read the article in the library, and I'm wondering if I should treat my 2 abei's for parasites. They seem fine...should I wait until they show signs of infestation? Also, I looked at big al's online and I didn't see any of the products for sale that were recommended in the article. They had Clout ...

I bought some abei's from our LFS. They were also being sold as red bellied puffers. There are some pics in my thread 'T abei at LFS' Sorry they are not the best quality but maybe you can see if they look like yours?

I didn't get a third, the 2 seem pretty happy together, for now. The tank is pretty heavily planted, and I will watch them. I hope they continue to get along ok, I really like them! Maybe someone could give me a positive ID?

They are doing great so far, they have colored up beautifully and are eating well. So far they are not showing aggression to each other, but they are not full grown yet either. I'm sooo tempted to go and get a third but 2 is probably enough in that tank.

So I decided to go with 2 abei's in my 55g. I figured SAP's are available often but it's pretty unlikely I'll see abei's for sale again. I'll take some pics for a positive ID once they've settled down a bit.

The LFS appears to have a bunch of T. abei. They did not know what they were and are keeping them in light brackish conditions. They look quite thin too. He has recovered nicely. :D I burped him as per the article in the library and he filled with water instead. After a while, he deflated and just lay motionless on the bottom, I thought for sure he was dead. But when I went to remove him, he moved so I left him alone and by the morning he was hiding ...

I moved him to a larger tank and he is now filled with air. Is there anything I can do or is he pretty much a goner?

I started netting them and moving them to another tank and was able to get a good look. They are definitely dwarf puffer fry from the dwarf puffers I sold a while back, and I though there were I or 2 but I've moved 7 so far!

They are currently sharing the tank with 3 eel loaches, but I used to have dwarf puffers in that tank about 2 months ago. So it is possible that the fry are dwarf puffers, I guess I'll see as they get older. :) If I can catch the fry, I could put them in a 33g established tank with 3 albino cories a...
