Re: Thinking about getting a fahaka.

That tank sounds great for a fahaka. I had driftwood in my fahaka tank and it leaked tannins into the water and turned it kinda of brownish. I finally just took it out and puts some river rock in. On the tankmates, I have a 9 inch fahaka that I got when he was about 1.5 inches. I have 2 siamese alga...

Re: Help internal parasite

Received my GelTek yesterday and treated him with it. I soaked a cube of bloodworms in it mixed with just a bit of water. I let it soak for 30 minutes, then gave it to him. He promptly started eating all the bloodworms. This morning he had some brown chuncks of poo hanging out, so that is really pro...

Re: Help internal parasite

I never really associated his poo with him eating snails. I will try not feeding him snails and seeing if his poo comes out different. I have been feeding him some gold mystery snails and apples snails that I got last weekend. They are a white color, different from the usual brown pond snails. Maybe...

Re: Help internal parasite Update with Picture

So for the next three days after I posted, he had normal brown poo. Today I fed him gut loaded ghost shrimp and some snails. He started to poo like this. It looks kinda whitish cream colored with large beads. Is this internal parasites? Should I start treating him with anything. Thanks. http://www.t...

Help internal parasite

I am a little worried about my fahaka. This morning when I turned on his tank light I noticed some different poo than usual hanging out. It looked like a long strand and had a little brown chunk at the end. I wouldnt say it was white colored, but actually clear. It almost looked like how the bloodwo...

Re: Lethargic & discolored GSP

Julesee,

That pet store you are talking about is Pet Inc Co. in Tempe I believe. They have a great selection of puffers and they actually know how to care for them. I bought my fahaka, dp, and palembangensis from them. They are a great store.

Re: Fahaka with Ick

It does not look like a salt grain, it is completely white. The other spots of ick looked like salt grains, but they have dissapeared. I am not very educated on Melafix, is it possible to pick up at petco or do I have to go to a LFS? How should I treat him with it? Thanks.

Fahaka with Ick

Some history on my Fahaka Maximus. He is about 2.5 inches, came into the LFS with internal parasites. They treated him there and he survived the IP. He then got ick there, I left him there for another week for them to treat, then I brought him home a little over 2 weeks ago. He had about 3 spots of ...

Re: Feeding a little baby Fahaka

Ok, I see what you mean now about the dechlorinated water. I actually just put some of the tank water in a glass and thaw the frozen stuff. I will get some vitamins for him.

Re: Feeding a little baby Fahaka

I know he needs a varied diet. I vary my other puffers diets pretty well, it just seems the fahaka is a little picky. Boxermom, so should I be soaking anything frozen with declor before I feed him? Also, can I get Kent Zoe vitamins at any lfs? Are there any other vitamins that are good substitutes? ...

Feeding a little baby Fahaka

I have a little Fahaka, about 2.5 inches. I have been feeding him snails and frozen bloodworms. I tried putting a ghost shrimp in there but he kind of just chases it around like hes practicing hunting. What other foods can I try feeding him now since he is so small? Also with the bloodworms, are the...

Re: Some humpback puffer feeding questions

I went to walmart and bought some cheap fishing line. I attach it to the frozen sand eels, only after I thaw them, then try to fish for him. He will go after them and eat it, but after about 3 of them he kind of figures out that they arent really alive so he gives up. I guess he likes it when the fo...

Re: What's your puffer's name?

My dwarf puffer is Tiny, I know very original. My humpback puffer is named Drako. My wife said that it means dragon in Japanese or something. My fahaka is named Maximus. I have pictures of them in the user gallery, havent quite figured out how to include them in the post, as it tells me it cant figu...

Re: My new fahaka

Boxermom,

What constitutes mass water change? 50% 70% 80%? The temperature is at 84, should I have it any higer or is that sufficient? Thanks.
