Bad News & Good News

Hi All Haven't been able to post for almost a year, work commitments etc etc, hope you are all well, all the best for 2009. Bad news, my lovely Abei, Sherman, passed away 26th December, we think he swallowed something which had blocked his gut, probably a month ago, went off his food and slowly slip...

Re: were to find a t. miurus?

you have a good tank set up and ready why are you so set on a t.miurus ?? you could have a very happy

Re: Keeping two targets together

Hi Judging by the size and description, these could well be abei's, please DO NOT keep these in a tank together, they are smaller members of the target group but aggression wise they are right up there at the top of the tree. They would be fine together up to around 3 - 4 months but after that, forg...

Re: Feeding apple snails

hi a handy tip......... take an empty apple snail shell, fill it with shredded prawn / shrimp / worm, crack slightly place in tank, stand back and watch your puff investigate then attack, then eat ! it works believe me. this is the way I get mine to sort out dentistry. I stuff smaller shells for the...

Re: Abei

Hi hey ain't the same, as reflected in the price tag, the hairy (Bailylei) will be up to ten times the price of the abei....... however, owning an abei is a great experience, they are very interactive and are a great introduction to the world of "bigger" puffers. I live in UK so can't help...

Re: A few questions about Congo Puffers

Hi They may take the worms when "cruisin" at night, but a congo really wants a proper dinner !!! He's gonna want prawn, shrimp, shredded fish ..... dangled on a thread at least, otherwise your thoughts are bang on, a nice shelter, my friend has a great congo, it "lives" in an upt...

Re: Any idea what's wrong with my puffer?

Hi Razor did you say 60 litres ?? If so the tank is way too small for all the fish you have in there, in a nutshell there will be way too much fish pee for the filter to deal with !! I keep 4 dp's (each smaller than yours) in a 125 litre tank with wood and plants. Your puffer needs at least that tan...

Re: 300/400l puffer tank

Hi neil this could be a dream, if you go for either, you could easily accomodate 10 dp's !! even allowing for wood, plants etc, you obviously have a big room !! I keep 4 dp's in JUWEL 125 litre pics are in my user gallery, I prefer gravel and rocks but others go with sand, IMHO the filter with the t...

Re: Puffer attacking the dog??

hi our dalmatian seem fascinated by our puff, she apends ages sitting in front of sherman's tank watching him, guess because he moves slowly and stares back she doesn't find him intimidating, she takes no notice of my wife's community tank with all the little chaps darting about. the puffer seems pr...
