I'm sure the lfs could order you some in if you tell them the name of the plants you want. Alternatively have a look on ebay, there are a few good suppliers on there who can get them a lot cheaper than any lfs I have found and I have never had a problem. Have a word on here and see who can recommend...

New dwarf - Gasp!

Ok Ok so going into a lfs 'just for a look' is never a good idea. I noticed they only had one dwarf puffer left and decided I would give it a good home. It's waiting to go into the 190l with three other dwarfs (named Huff, Puff and Blow by my other half) He decided it looked very unwell in compariso...

All three of my dwarfs are lightly different sizes. The male is the largest and one of the females is just about the same size. The remaining female is slightly smaller (enough to be able to recognise her at a glance) and I have put this down to the fact that she was the worst affected by IPs when I...

Well I tried the pumpkin seed trick and I must say I think it might have worked. One of my dwarfs had a sunken in tummy before and shortly after eating, the other two looked fine. I crushed up some seeds and left frozen bloodworm to thaw and sit in it for a bit before feeding. Since then I have thre...

Irrubesco requirements?

Hi guys,

In the puffer pedia it says Irrubesco require 20g each whereas other resources (pufferlist.net etc) suggest 10g. Which is correct?

If it is 20g what is the reason for this fish requiring more g than an SAP for example which is larger and only requires 15g?

Thanks!

Not SAPs - Dwarfs!

Well I have been away for a week and come back and notice how much my three (alleged) SAPs have grown...and how they now look distinctly like Dwarf puffers!! Having been through the info on this site and others they are definitely dwarfs...so now I am considering what to do with them! I really don't...

Hi guys,

I started using this piperazine citrate wormer for cats/kittens on my three SAPs yesterday, just diluting a tiny amount and leaving some bloodworm into soak.

No unwanted side effects yet and the two affected look a bit brighter already.

ich treatment in young puffers?

Hi guys, I have had my young SAPs (12mm in length) in a quarantine tank for a week now at about 80 degrees F and looking out for signs of ick. I have noticed tonight that one of the guys has an ick spot at the end of his tail, all the others are ok and he has no others. I have read over the excellen...

Forgot to mention! Apparently the high rains in South America at the end of Autumn and into December results in a large number of SAPs appearing in the shops. Keep looking...they should be coming more available from about now.

jnheinz: How are things going? Have they figured out where the food comes from yet? This is the third evening I have had my 3 new SAPs, like you I tried for ages to get them. It is now the right season, allegedly the late autumn rains in South America results in plenty of juvenile SAPs being availab...

I struggled for ages to get hold of any. Many places said they were on the stock list and they could get them in for me but then they were constantly let down by the suppliers. Not sure what is going on there! I finally found a lfs in Bristol, ironically about 15 minutes from where I work, who manag...
