colomesus puffer. New set up

Hi there. It's been some years since I've posted on this Forum. In the past I have kept Dwarf Puffers and a Ceylon Puffer. For the past 13 years I have succesfully run a large Marine Reef but decided to close it down. It's been around 4 weeks since the shutdown and typically for a fishkeeper I'm mis...

As beautiful as Puffers are they are a no no for CUC....so what do people use as an alternative? and are there any Marine snails that a Puffer won't munch??

CUC vanished

I was noticing that my sand was looking a little grubby and then realised that all my CUC have gone!!!!! :censored: .....Red leg Hermits, snails, a Blood Red shrimp and a cleaner shrimp. The only two additions to the tank lately have been a Koran Angels (which I doubt ate them) and a Toby Puffer. Th...

GPS - straight to Marine/Brackish??

I have a large Marine system but would like to set up a separate tank for a GSP. As most LFS keep their GSP in Freshwater would it be possible to drip acclimatise one of these up to full marine? I ask this because obviously I have the means to set up a marine tank straight away with sand and Live ro...

Re: Thinking of going FOWLR for a Dog face

I have kept a Ceylon at Marine before. Lovely fish. Any reason for getting rid of it? Mine was okay with corals is yours? What do you feed it on? Where abouts are you and what would you be looking for it?

Thinking of going FOWLR for a Dog face

I have a 600lt Reef set up at the moment that has been running successfully for 3 years and as a former puffer owner (DP's and a Ceylon) I am still in love with the idea of a Puffer for my Marine set up. If I buy a Dog face will I lose ALL my CUC???? and if so what is the alternative to having no CU...

Re: Ceylon Puffer - marine ich (whitespot)

The fish have been in the Hospital tank now for 5 days (2 days at 1.009) and are looking so much better already. I am having to do a large water change on a daily basis because the tank hasn't cycled. The Ceylon still isn't eating but he did manage a few bites of mussel yesterday so I guess he must ...

Re: Ceylon Puffer - marine ich (whitespot)

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. I am pleased to say that this morning Geoff my Ceylon is looking more like his old self. He is swimming around, all his fins are open and even the white covering on his eye is looking clearer. He is still not taking food but that's understanable and hopefully...

Re: Ceylon Puffer - marine ich (whitespot)

I have now put all the fish in the quarentine tank....do i need to take out all the corals too? will the whitespot live on them? It's opkay...I have just realised the corals can't go to the low salinity with the fish otherwise they will die off. so, all the fish are in the qaurentine tank which I wi...

Re: Ceylon Puffer - marine ich (whitespot)

I do realise that but only have a small qaurentine tank, not enough room for all the fish and LR...so I am scratching my head as to what my next move will be. My main concern at the moment is my Puffer's recovery as he really was close to death. Then I will have to come up with a plan
