Avocado Puffers

Hey guys! I’ve had my avocado puffer in a 40g planted for about a month now. He’s alone, eating, and very happy. But he seems incredibly… bored. He’s on a stand in my room, like my arrowhead in her tank. But while she spends the day wallowing and amusing herself, he stares at me and refuses to enjoy...

Re: Mystery Freshwater Puffer

Has anyone ever bred a turg in captivity? They have a supposed male (my guess, he’s more streamline). And she’s now munching on the smaller mollies… big ones are getting moved. They were feeding her krill (not great), she might need the nutrients so she can have the small ones. I prefer puffers anyw...

Mystery Freshwater Puffer

She was sold to me as a rare “bottle puffer” and she was pricey. I was thinking she’s definitely not a bottle puffer from the genus auriglobus. I was thinking either a Pao turgidus or abei. She’s about 6 inches, very active and friendly. She prefers snails. She has not displayed and aggression towar...

GSPs in a 40 breeder

Hi all, 😄 came back from NJ’s AQUASHELLA with two baby GSPs and very clearly incorrect information in their upkeep - I was told they would be fine in fresh but we all know how that’s a common misconception - but they’re babies so I have time. My question is - HOW do I go about transitioning my 40 ga...

Re: Amazon Puffer suddenly withdrawing

Update, have four in a 30 gal now, and mister withdrawn puffer has come out of his shell!

He’s eating and loosely schooling with his three new Amazon puffer buddies. They have the whole tank to themselves, and they’re really great to watch in a group. I’m happy I was able to accommodate him!

Re: Amazon Puffer suddenly withdrawing

You might want to raise the temp to 78-80. They really do best in groups. Are the teeth overgrown? https://www.pufferfishenthusiastsworldwide.com/post/colomesusasellus Raising temp as we speak. Teeth are not overgrown, they look healthy. I guess I should invest in a bigger tank. Which I can do. Oth...

Amazon Puffer suddenly withdrawing

Hi, I’m not new to the hobby, but I’m a bit newer to certain puffers. I keep peas, a spotted Congo juvenile, and two red eye dwarfs. My current predicament is my Amazon puffer. He’s in a temporary cycled 15 gallon, it cycled for a month with water a sand from an established tank. He’s approximately ...
