Re: @RTR - MBU tank size requirement.

Here are a few links to a couple of forum threads regarding algae filters on freshwater tanks. Some very interesting stuff, for me i think that just doing water changes is and would be a lot easier then maintaining a filter like this. My largest tank is only 180g though, on a much larger system it m...

Re: Fahaka Jumping?

My fahaka bangs against the cover quite often, this fish is a bit mental i think though. It does it pretty often as i am preparing to feed, he will pace the front glass frantically then BANG! smack up against the cover. It is pretty loud when it does it sometimes. Had some friends over to watch a mo...

Re: question about substrate

My fahaka has completely destroyed everything i have put in the tank aside from rocks. I have some driftwood in the tank, he even tears it up though, the one big piece i have in with him has little notches from his bites all along the edge he has access to. Even the plastic cave i have in there has ...

Young fahaka destroying tank decor....

I have had this guy for ~ two months, he is in a 6x2x2 180 that had a lot of large plastic plants in it. Up until a few days ago he payed no attention to the plants. This morning i had to remove them all cause he was stripping them of their leaves and on some of them he actually cut the stems off th...

Re: SAP's

I think SAP's are in season now, i know of a few metro Phoenix area LFS's that have tanks full of them now. Ditto on the aggression as pretty much every one else, i have had no issues with them. I have some tetra's, otto's and a few other odds and ends in with my 3 SAP's in a 55 and have never had a...

Re: YEP, NEED AN ID

I have seen these puffers while diving and even snorkeling many times in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. I think you posted these on MFK yesterday or the day before (i asked for a picture in the thread there). Very cool though, these are definately full marine fish, maybe they will do ok in brackish but i d...

Time to trim my SAP's teeth

I have looked at two very large pharmacies and cannot find a tooth ache type medicine that contains "clove oil" as an active ingredient. Wondered if anyone has used something else or if there is a substitute to clove oi? Does clove oil go under a different name when it is listed on the pac...

So bad ...

I have a 55 gallon with 3 SAP's, 2 otto's, a rubber nosed pleco and a kuli loach. The SAP's are very fun to watch and do "school" together pretty much all the time. They never seem to stop moving! I would highly suggest SAPS in a 55, not sure if there would be a difference if you had...
