I had purchased him at Broadway Aquatics in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He had always been healthy, happy and friendly, until this week. Not sure what happened, could have been something in the water.

So sad right now............

I was considering switching from sand to black gravel in my GSP tank (high brackish). Is this ok to do?

Is it at all possible to keep nerite snails with a gsp in a very high brackish/marine aquarium? I read somewhere online that the gsp won't bother the nerite snails because their shells are too hard and they don't expose their head/foot when feeding or moving. Plus, nerites are supposed to be nocturn...

To be honest it would be unlikely to be productive, especially when snails are so easy to breed. Feed your snails a good varied diet and your puffer will reap the rewards of what the snails have eaten Thank you. Snails do best in ph of 7 or higher, hard water, 65 - 82 degrees (f), nitrates under 20ppm.

I currently breed and raise ramshorn snails to feed to my GSP. I'd like to raise or breed freshwater clams or mussels for the same purpose. Does anyone have any experience doing this?

Are you sure the eggs didn't hatch? Ramshorn snails are very, very tiny when they hatch. Algae wafers, green beans (canned, salt-free work great!) and fish food (flakes). Please don't give up. It takes a few weeks for the babies to be big enough to be seen. BUT, you might see them sooner if you drop...

You do need a filter and a heater. They can survive in an unheated tank, but breed better in warmer water (the same temp you keep tropical fish in). You also need to add calcium in the form of shells or calcium tablets to help them build their shells.
