that's absolutely horrible, i have tears standing in my eyes just thinking about it. there's no feeling worse than not being able to do anything in a situation like this. so very, very sorry to hear this, lisa.

what an amazing setup! i love the silver trim on the tanks, too... your daughters are lucky to have their own aquarium to visit.

i'm taking it as a sign that the tank is meant for something else. who knows? new things come along every day

well, that's what i get for not calling to tell them to hold for me. the guppies are ecstatic, though!

well, here's the anticlimactic end to this story - i decided instead to switch the guppies to the 29 and open up the 10, went to pick up the puff, got to petco and they'd just sold it not half an hour before.

...and allll this space on my desk at work. i'm thinking stick in a little duetto submersible filter, some rocks and live plants, and have a dwarf puffer to keep me company. i know one can go in 3 gallons comfortably, but i'm a little worried about him being lonely. two would be too cramped, right?

winning people over who think fish are "boring and dumb" is my favorite thing. my ex-boyfriend still has a 12gal eclipse i set up for him with rasboras and otos in it, i got four or five girls in my office keeping bettas, and my boyfriend, my roommate and her boyfriend are all getting real...

she was very pale tannish and kind of splotchy-patterned - which could be from a pale substrate and stress (she's sitting next to oscars!). fairly decent size, i'd guess 3 inches from tip to tail. i'll go back and try to get a better look at her.

we have really acidic water here for some reason (6.0 or so straight out of the tap), which is one of the reasons i picked the crushed coral - even now (it's been in there a month, i'd say) it's got a minimal buffer (about 80-90ppm). as for tankmates, i'll steeer clear. i was hoping that the rainbow...

i assumed as much. some material i'd seen said they couuuuuld be friendly, but since she's been dropped off at the store i'd bet it's because she wasn't. thanks, i'll be checking back there tonight, i think.

oh, another question - probably a stupid one. tankmates? i'd intended to do rainbows, flagfish, maybe some small cichlids (kribs most likely)... things that can stand up for themselves. yes or no?
