Re: Thinking about getting a fahaka.

I've never been able to have plants in my tank so it won't be a change for me. Right now I just have to decide what to do with my Pimelodus blochii cat fish. He's in the 120 now and why too peaceful to be put in my other tank with my jag and oscar. The jag is a mean SOB. I just sold my 55gal setup; ...

Re: Thinking about getting a fahaka.

Thanks. I'm okay with it being the only tank mate if it won't tolerate them. They are a little hard to find(I'm in Philadelphia). I've seen one at big als in norristown but it looked like it had internal parasites the way its belly was sunken in.

Re: Thinking about getting a fahaka.

Thanks for the replys. I would love to have real plants. My cichlids never allowed me to have them. If It doesn't work with tank mates I'm ok with that.

Thinking about getting a fahaka.

I've had GSP's in the past and really loved them. The salt is what killed me. Not the work involed but the expense. I've been reaserching the fahaka and really think I'm gonna get one. I have a 120 with: 2 xp3's, a magnum 350(I use for mech. filtr), and an ac 110. Black sand and drift wood. Does thi...

The both are close to 4 inches long and pretty plump. I take care of the threat before I put them in the tank (I know that sounds cruel but I do realize the danger so I make sure there is none). The problem with ghost shrip is I only have 1 store near by that sells them and they don't have them in s...

Feeding my GSP's

Once a week I feed my two GSP's crayfish (2 crayfish to be exact). Normally I put one in and wait for them to finish then put the second. Sometimes they don't eat the second, they'll just play around with it for awile then eat him the next day. My question is: Since the GSP's are in full marine (1.0...

fortunately I don't have any corals. I'ts doing a great job of cleaning up anything left behind behind by the GSPs. They don't seem to be paying any attention to it. Hopefully they will keep ignoring it.

GSP's and a CC starfish

So far so good. I introduced a Choclatechip starfish to my GSP tank about two weeks ago and so far my puffs have not been bothering it. I've been feeding them a little more than usual just to be safe. Has anyone tried this combination with success? If so what do you feed the starfish? I've been usin...

What I heard at my LFS!

I'm in my LFS, getting crayfish and red crabs for my GSP's and my Oscars. So anyway I'm waiting while the guy is helping a customer who's ahead of me. I hear them talking and the customer is interested in getting two GSP's. He's asking the basic questions about care, food and what not. The guy tells...

Figure 8 question

Is the care and water parameters for a figure 8 similar to a GSP. I have GSPs and was thinking of getting a figure 8 ( species only tank ). Seen some today at my LFS and their markings were incredible.

Seems to be okay, no longer puffed and it ate tonight when I fed them. I'll keep a close eye on it but will have to take precautions next week when I do my water change.

No I don't use a net if ever I have to transfer them I use a small cup so they never leave the water. This one just jumped straight out of the tank and on to the floor. I've been changing the water once a week since I got them about 4 month ago and never had any problems. I guess it got spooked this...

Need help, my Puffer jumped out of the tank!

While changing the water one of my GSPs jumped out and puffed up with air. I know this is deadly to them. What should I do.

Question about MTS

I've been told that Malaysian Trumpet Snails should not be fed to puffers. Their shells are too hard and will crack the puffers teeth. Is this true?
