Re: ANYONE HAND FEED THEIR FAHAKA???
First rule in establishing an aquatic/predatory environment is to establish who's the Alpha male. My puffer knows who that is, all my fish do, that is why I can put my hand and fingers in the tank and he won't do anything. He knows I'm the one who feeds him and I'm the one who can end him lol and an...

Re: ANYONE HAND FEED THEIR FAHAKA???
There's zero chance of harming your fish by petting and/or handling them. If you ask me, more fish keepers should have their hands in water as often as possible. It's bonding time with the fish and the fish are much more at peace when they are familiar with your hand in the water. I've hand fed many...

I do a daily vacuum on my Fahaka's collection of mini-asteroids, as long as you vacuum stuff up before it rots, you won't need to worry much about bio-load.

Re: ANYONE HAND FEED THEIR FAHAKA???
Be very careful. I have to advise against petting him, you will damage his slime coat causing serious health issues. Damaging slime coat is one of those old fish tales / myths :D. You can't really do any damage petting a fish and there's no science to back up the claim either. I pet all my fish and...

Re: bare bottom tank
You can paint the bottom and give it a substrate look. Both sand and gravel are a PITA to maintain. Bare bottom tanks are becoming more common place. BTW beneficial bacteria are primarily in your filter not the substrate. My Fahaka is in a bare bottom painted tank and he's doing great.

Re: What size tank do YOU think an MBU should be in?
I'll play the "devil's advocate here" forget that it's an mbu for a second, it's a 2ft max size fish, give or take an inch or two. For simple math purposes, let's just say 2 feet. The minimum ideal width for a 2 foot fish is 3ft. Some might be inclined to do more, that's personal preferenc...

Re: fahaka and plants
My fahaka bit a decoration just to test it lol I haven't been able to keep plants real or fake, he just tears them apart. There was one instance however, I submerged a few pothos plants in the sand, he look like he really enjoyed the big leaves, like he was in heaven or something lol out on the leav...

Fahaka Tail hump not completely grown
I notice with other Fahaka's the tail hump is completely grown and fans out into the tail. On mine, the one side looks like a hump with no tail part growing from it. I wanted to see if this is a natural growth or something else. He's 10 inches so I would assume the tail would be full and complete. f...
