In the past I do believe there are "sudden death". But, after some time ( quite a while actually.. ) when I learn more and become more experience, "Sudden Death" starts to have different meanings like ie. uncycled, poor maintenance, poor feeding, swimming in own waste, wrong tan...

A good way to keep a supply of guppies is to breed them in a separate tank about 20 gallons and you can just add them in after you've made sure they are healthy.
